Section 504

The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Federal Rehabilitation Act require the school district ensure that no individual will be discriminated against based upon a disability. All students who do NOT qualify for an Individualized Education Program (IEP), may qualify for services under Section 504 of the federal Rehabilitation Act.
 
Under Section 504, if the student:
 
  • Has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of major life activities,
  • Has a record of a physical or mental impairment, OR
  • Is regarding as having a physical or mental impairment
