Dear Trailblazer Families,
It is with great excitement and pride that I write this letter of introduction as your new Principal of Indian Trail School. I cannot explain the joy I am feeling to be back to a place I call "home."
I have been a member of the District 161 team since August of 2000. I started my career in District 161 at Frankfort Square School teaching Third Grade and transitioned to Dr. Julian Rogus School in the same role after construction was completed. In 2009, I moved to Indian Trail School and joined the Third Grade Team. At each of those schools, I was successful in teaching a variety of students with many different educational and emotional needs. The experience in the classroom is one I continue to cherish as watching students learn and grow is both a joyful and rewarding experience.
Since 2011, I have been the Assistant Principal of Hilda Walker School. As I transition back to Indian Trail, I am elated to bring my teaching skills and knowledge of the elementary mind along with my new leadership skills and knowledge of the middle school experience. The Walker experience will allow me to assist the teachers, as well as partner with you to ensure our students are prepared for the demands of the middle school transition. Along with the phenomenal staff, I am dedicated to continuing the successes here at Indian Trail and to building strong relationships with teachers, staff, students, parents, community members. We will continue our focus of providing a safe and nurturing environment and increasing student achievement through a strong common core curriculum. Our base of success will be built upon instructional strategies that maintain high expectations, and nurture not just student academics, but the emotional needs of our students.
Finally, we will take the time to enjoy each and every student in the building as, at the end of the day, it is our students that we all work so hard for. I look forward to a successful year as the Trailblazer team and I partner with you to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students. It will be due to our unity and strong communication that we continue to advance our students. Your input is very much appreciated and welcomed. I look forward to meeting each of you, as well as getting to know all my Trailblazer students. Who knows, I just may have had a sibling of theirs! Please feel free to contact me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet!
