Freckle Challenge

During the months of June and July, we invite you to take part in our Freckle Challenge! Our Freckle Challenge allows your child to spend some time this summer working throughout our Freckle Adaptive Platform!

Students are asked to print the calendar for their grade level and log the days they spend in Freckle. We ask that students complete the challenge that is listed on the calendar. Once you have completed your calendars, you can drop them off at the district office or email a picture of the calendar to [email protected]. Once we receive your completed calendar, we will add up to 2,000 coins to your Freckle account (1,000 coins per month).

Summer Reading Challenge

All SHSD161 students are invited to participate in the Summer Reading Program during the months of June and July! Families may visit their local public library to register for this program. Students will receive a pencil that can be planted and a garden marker for their participation in the Summer Reading Challenge.

Reading at home is essential to strengthening skills in language, vocabulary, and comprehension. Help build a love of reading in your child!

Reading over the summer is one of the best ways to keep your mind sharp and ready for the next school year! We have provided an opportunity for you to choose from our novel study options. The novel guide packets provide close reading and writing activities, along with guided questions for engagement. Additionally, there are challenge and final project opportunities to extend learning. Parents/Guardians may access the book from the public library, or purchase it for their student to keep. Bonus: You may apply this reading to the Summer Reading Challenge and library logs!
