The Summit Hill Junior High Baseball Team won their 2025 IESA 3A Regional Championship on Sept. 17 with a 6-5 victory over Homewood James Hart at SHJH. It's the baseball program's fourth regional title in the last five years.
In the regional championship game, Matt Roth led the way on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings and recording ten strikeouts for the win. Kenny Ritter had the save for the Spartans. Offensively, the team was led by Danny Dwyer, Christian Bargas, Roth, Logan Brigando, Aiden Lorendo, and Mason Shefcik, who all recorded hits for the Spartans.
Before defeating Homewood Hart in the regional championship game, the Spartans beat Steger Columbia 19-0 in the opening round and Crete-Monee 14-2 in the semi-final round.
The regional championship victory advanced the Spartans to the IESA 3A Sectional Championship on Sept. 20 at Homer, where they fell to eventual 3A State Runner Up Mokena 12-0. The Spartans finished their season with a varsity record of 12-8-1 and a JV record of 5-0.
