Assignments

Dear Partners in Education, Please check your child's blue homework folders for what we have worked on in our sessions and practice the skills noted. You will be able to circle each day that you work on it at home with your child. By doing so, we are instilling good study habits at an early age. If your child practices at home and the days are circled on their homework page, they will receive a sticker. Once the student reaches 10 stickers, they can pick a prize from the treasure box.

                                 Counting by ones and tens

Throughout the year, kindergarten students will learn to count to 100 by ones, as well as, count to 100 by tens.

There are many fun ways to teach this skill.

You can count your steps to 100 as you walk.

You can

~ stomp feet while counting 1-10,

~clap while counting 11-20,

~ touch toes while counting 21-30

~reach to the sky while counting 31-40

~ jog in place while counting 41-50

~wiggle hips while counting 51-60

~squat while counting 61-70

~flap arms while counting71-80

~march in place while counting 81-90

~raise the rough while counting 91-100

TO COUNT by 10’s you can hop and count by tens or raise the roof and count by tens.

By pairing a motor movement with the activity, it allows the students to say, hear and do, in turn making learning fun!
