Welcome to fourth grade!
Things are moving right along in 4th grade!
We are now studying the classifying of animals! If your child has items related to this subject, please encourage him/her to bring them in and share them!The Chapter 1 test is scheduled for November 14th. Make sure your child studies the whole chapter and the bulleted items on the study guide.
In social studies we are previewing our country as a whole before we study the specific regions of the country. This chapter includes understanding the branches of our federal government. Again, if your child has an item related to the specific region we are studying, we would love to see it! The chapter test is scheduled for November 12th. The first region we will study is the Northeast!
Please work with your child to practice multiplication facts on a daily basis. I suggest at least 15 minutes a day. Miss Goshko will show the students some great drill games for multiplication facts. Go to the the district website and click on her name. This will give the students a variety of activities from which to choose. We will also start taking timed tests in class.
If you see your child is having several or many late assignments, please help them by checking their assignment book every day. We are working hard in 4th grade in order to be more independent in 5th grade at Hilda Walker next year.
Please continue to send in Campbell soup labels and Box Tops for Education coupons. We also collect used cell phones and empty laserjet and inkjet computer printer cartridges! Thanks for remembering to send them in!
In December we will work on another project that requires the caps from laundry soap or fabric softener! We need the ones that look like hats! Any color will work! Thanks in advance for sending these in!
Reminder - we have library checkout on Fridays! Please remind your child to return library books to school on that day! Books can be renewed on Friday, but the book needs to be here at school.
We have Bookmobile every other Monday. Your child should have brought home a schedule to him/her what days we are scheduled to check out!
