READING: Our next story will be a play. The story Did You See Chip?
SKILLS:
Phonics- r controlled vowels, word endings –s,-ed,-ing
Comprehension- setting, making inferences
Grammar-words that are more than one
Writing-writing complete sentences
High Frequency words/vocabulary words- live, soon, city, house, sometimes, take, there
Spelling- far, farm, arm, art, cart, card, chin, inch, live, soon
**PLEASE NOTE** Starting this week, spelling tests will now be worth 20 points. At the end of our spelling test, a dictated sentence will be given. The students will have to write the sentence using correct capitals, punctuation, and spelling words. The words in the sentences will be the spelling words that are on their test for that week. Also, students will now have their words marked wrong for any backwards or capital letters in their spelling words.
MATH: We will continue with Chapter 8-Spatial sense and position words. Chapter 8 test is on Friday.
Science: Science-Next week we will be discussing plants and animals in their environments. We will learn about adaptations that plants and animals make to survive over time.
Family Project-We sent home a shape of a ginger-bread man/woman for the entire family to decorate. Use your imaginations and anything else you have sitting around the house.
Gingerbread Houses- First grade will be making gingerbread houses on Friday, December 5th. We are looking for volunteers. A note about the gingerbread houses/volunteers went home on Tuesday. Please return it as soon as possible. A second note will be coming home letting the volunteers know what time to be here. It is very important that when sending in food items for the gingerbread houses that you NOT send in peanut products. Thank you!
