Our new story for the week is going to be Garden of Happiness.A girl by the name of Marisol plants a sunflower seed in a new neighborhood garden. When autumn comes and her flower dies, Marisol gets discouraged. Her happiness returns, however, when she discovers a group of teenagers has painted a mural of sunflowers on a brick wall nearby. Monday and Tuesday are going to focus on finishing some rain forest activities throught the use of The Great Kapok Tree. GREAT STORY!!
The vocabulary words for the week are lavender, haze, inhaled, mural, and skidded. The spelling words for the week focus on words with the ur sound. They are curve, learned, curly, pearl, purse, further, turtle, urgent, burning, hurried, earth, earned, purpose, surface, overheard, rehearse, current, disturb, furniture, and research. The challenge words are pickax, crisscrossed, cultivate, raspberries, and irrigate. Please review all of the above words each night.
Math class is going to continue with Chapter 4---- multiplication and division properties. We are going to review chapter 4 study guide on Monday and the test will be on Wednesday. Students have started their multiplication flashcard bags. They need to review these each night along with reading for 20 minutes. Your initial on their reading chart now indicates that they have read for 20 minutes and studied their flash cards.
Social Studies is going to focus on beginning Chapter 2. We will be learning about branches of government and symbols.
