Reading-This week we read a realistic fiction story titled The Stories Julian
Tells. Some skills we worked on were singular and plural possessive nouns, analogies, and prefixes/suffixes.

Please Note: Looking ahead to our busy December, I have decided to switch around the order of our reading stories. I’d like to concentrate on certain stories before our schedule gets too hectic. So please be aware of the order of upcoming stories so you can study the correct spelling words at home.
Week of: November 17th: Centerfield Ballhawk
November 24th: Sayings We Share
December 1st: Ramona Forever
December 8th: The Talent Show
December 15th: Review Skills/Theme Test

Math-We took the Chapter 5 test today. Next week we’ll move on to
Chapter 6. In this chapter we'll learn about graphs and analyzing data.

Writing-Thanks so much for sending in your secret letters! Your children absolutely loved them.
We have a student in our class who has a cousin in the army. This week
we wrote letters to the soldiers to bring them some cheer this holiday
season. Additionally, the students wrote an expository paper about
what they are thankful for.

Social Studies-We began Unit 3 this week. In this unit we are discussing the many changes that occur within a community. We'll also be learning about how our country began. Next week we’ll enjoy some literature about Native American tribes and the establishment of the thirteen colonies.

Magic Tree House-We're anxiously awaiting our field trip next Friday!
On Wednesday a representative from the play will come to our school.
She'll present a lesson about the play to prepare us for the trip.

Calendar-Tuesday, November 18th: Market Day Pick Up
Friday, November 21st: Field Trip
Wednesday, November 26th: Early Dismissal One Hour
