TECH TIME
During the second quarter we will be working on:
Grade 1 – 1st Grade students will use the program KidPix Studio Deluxe 4 and Kidspiration to continue to develop fundamental mouse skills such as double-clicking, using handlebars, and dragging and dropping in a fun and creative way. We will use the internet to practice some basic math skills while at the same time learning some important internet safety rules.
2nd Grade: 2nd Grade students will continue to use KidPix to review mouse and menu skills. Students will also begin using the program Microsoft Word to develop their awareness of the keyboard and to see the different things that can be done with text.
3rd and 4th Grades: Students will fine tune their keyboarding skills using the programs UltraKey and Microsoft Word. They will begin formatting, changing font, size, style, & color and adding effects. 4th grade students will also be introduced to spacing, indents and alignment.
4th grade students will begin UltraKey classes the week of Nov. 10th. UltraKey is a keyboarding program that is utilized every day for ½ an hour for 4 weeks. This is done over an 8 week period because it alternates with their technology classes. UltraKey is a fun program that challenges students to work their way through its various levels while using sounds, visual effects and repetition to enforce the keyboarding skills that they will need as they advance in school.
Students at every grade level will participate in a unit on Internet Safety. Use the link below to further develop these essential internet safety rules.
