Dear Parents and Students,
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving holiday!
We will be having our November BLAZERS party this week for those students who have at least one TRAIL letter left! Congratulations and keep up the good work!
Santa’s Secret Workshop will be held on Wednesday this week. Please plan accordingly.
Remember to keep reading for AR--- quizzes should be taken weekly!
Here is what we are up to this week! Please note that the information listed below is a tentative schedule; therefore, assignments and/or tests can be rescheduled. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email me! Weekly Events (Dec. 1-5, 2008)
READING: We will be reading our first story in our third theme, The Stories Julian Tells, this week. We will focus on sequencing and reading ahead. After reading this story, the students will take an End of Selection Quiz in which they will be able to use their book. This test will act as a quiz and focuses on comprehension.
LANGUAGE ARTS: We will focus on the Plural Possessive Nouns this week.
SPELLING: Students will be given a pretest on Monday on the list of words below. On Friday, students will be given a dictated spelling test. Please remember to study these words daily. In addition, as a daily homework assignment, students will be asked to complete Tic-Tac-Toe activities. Please check the LA folder for this information.

brother’s, brothers, uncle’s, uncles, sister’s, sisters, sisters’, man’s, men’s, child’s, girls, girl’s, girls’, mine, yours
MATH: Chapter 7, Probability, will be reviewed on Monday and tested on Tuesday. Unit 3 (Chapters 6 & 7) will also be tested this week. We will review the unit on Wednesday and test it on Thursday. Study prior to all tests! Also, on Friday, we will begin working on two chapters at a time. Chapter 8, Multiplication, and Chapter 12, Measurement will both begin. It will be quite an adjustment for students to get used to, but it will work! Many practice and homework pages will be in folders, too. Please be sure to review all lessons daily by checking homework workbook pages. This will act as extra reinforcement for all students. Lastly, continue drilling addition and subtraction facts, too, for about ten minutes 3 times a week. Timed addition and subtraction tests began last week and will continue until all student pass them. SCIENCE: Unit D Chapter 9 will end this week. We will review on Monday and test on Wednesday. Study guides went home last week!
SOCIAL STUDIES: DOG will continue to be a daily assignment.
HANDWRITING: A review will be taught this week!
