Mrs. Jenna OCallaghan - 1st (Send e-mail)
Dear Parents, There have been many new and exciting things happening in first grade! I want to thank all the parents that helped in the planning of the wonderful Halloween party. All the students left that day with big smiles on their faces and were glowing from the day’s activities. Pumpkin carving was also a huge hit this year! Thank you to all of the parents who were able to come in and help out with our activities!
In reading this week the students read, Try Your Best. We talked about characters and how a character can change through a story. We have also focused on the r controlled sounds, for example in words like fork, corn, and more. The students have been working very hard on their spelling words. I am very happy with all of them. Keep up all the great work!!!
In math, we just finished up chapter 6 on subtraction. We took the chapter test today and everyone did a great job. The next chapter is on sorting and classifying. We will be looking at solids and plane shapes.
All the timelines that came in look great. I can tell there was a lot of time and effort put into this project. The students all enjoyed sharing and talking about their timelines with the class.
It was also wonderful to get to meet everyone at parent-teacher conferences! Your children are doing a wonderful job and it was great to get the chance to share their progress with you. Like I always say, if you have any questions or concerns please contact me. Have a wonderful weekend! Mrs. O’Callaghan
