WELCOME TO MRS. DROP’S CLASS
Class Work/Quizzes/Tests
Class work includes practice assignments, review assignments, and independent assignments. Practice assignments will be marked with a “T” at the top of the pages to indicate that these assignments have been completed together as a class. Assignments completed together will not be calculated toward the report card grade.
Independent work will be scored. Scores earned on independent class work, quizzes, and tests will count toward the report card grade.
Please review all work with your child.
Homework Folder
Please designate 1 folder as your child’s “Homework Folder”. This folder should be brought to school and taken home daily. Be sure to check your child’s “Homework Folder” on a daily basis for school correspondence and student work. Kindly replace your child’s folder as needed.
Homework Assignments
Kindly review daily homework assignments. All written work is expected to be completed neatly. Homework will count toward your child’s effort grade.
Please review all work sent home in your child’s “Homework Folder” for reinforcement. Be sure to look for suggested home activities on workbook pages.
Your child is encouraged to read about 20 minutes daily.
Grading System
The district grading system is listed in the “Summit Hill District 161 Parent Handbook”. Your child’s grade will be based on class work, quizzes, and tests. Homework will count toward your child’s effort grade.
Progress Reports
Progress Reports will be issued as stated in the “Summit Hill District 161 Handbook”. Checking your child’s graded papers will help you monitor your child’s progress on a daily basis. If you have any questions or concerns, please fell free to contact me.

Allergies and Treats
Our classroom is a peanut-free zone. See "Birthday and Holiday Celebrations - Guidelines" below.
Parent Notes

District Handbook
Please read /follow carefully the “Summit Hill District 161 Handbook”.
Supplies
Please check with your child to be sure he or she has the supplies that are needed. Please replace as needed. Your child should have at least 5 sharpened pencils at all times.
Birthday and Holiday Celebrations - Guidelines
There are students who may be allergic to certain foods. Therefore, to reduce the risk of exposure, please send items such as pencils, erasers, or small toys - if your child wishes to distribute birthday/party treats.
If you do send an edible treat, please adhere to the following:
1. The item must be store bought and individually wrapped. 2. The item must not contain peanuts/contain peanut by-products/be processed in a factory that processes peanuts. 3. The item must be on the list of healthy snacks as stated in the Summit Hill School District 161 Wellness Policy. (Please see parent handbook.)
Kindly follow the same guidelines for classroom parties and other activities when food items are distributed. If the item does not follow district and classroom guidelines it may not be distributed.
If your child wishes to distribute birthday invitations/treats, please be sure that each child is included. I do not want any child to feel left out/hurt. We have 19 students in our class (9 girls and 10 boys).
