Mr. Brian Barnas - Language Arts 7th  (Send e-mail)

Mr. Brian Barnas
7th Grade
Language Arts and Reading Teacher

Welcome parents and students to Language Arts class! My name is Brian Barnas and I will be teaching 7th grade Language Arts for team 7-2. Language Arts is broken down into two disciplines, English and reading. This class is designed to assist the student in developing writing, reading, and grammar skills. During the course of the year, students will learn to distinguish among the parts of speech, to write in various forms, to develop vocabulary, and to read and understand various forms of literature. We will accomplish this by using many different types of activities such as: computer activities, discussions, Daily Oral Language, quizzes, tests, games, assignments, writing portfolios, and writing units. Students will be expected to use Standard English (grammar, usage, syntax, spelling, and writing conventions) in all written work. All of my class material is in conjunction with the Illinois Learning Standards.

Parents, student grades are now available for you to view on-line at any time. Paper copies will be given during the school year at my discretion. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or academic concerns you have regarding your child. You can email me at bbarnas@summithill.org or by phone at 815.469.4330.

I am looking forward to a great 2008-2009 school year! Go Spartans!
