Student re-registration for the 2013-14 school year begins May 1
The link on the District's homepage to the student re-registration process will go live on May 1. Please help ensure District 161's human resources are utilized as fiscally as responsible by verifying your child's enrollment by June 14. Save $20 on the registration fee if paid by June 14. Flyers will be sent home with additional details. Additionally, District 161’s Fall Kindergarten registration drive is continuing. Half day and extended day programs are available. Students must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2013. Parents are asked to come to the District Administrative Center, 20100 South Spruce Drive in Frankfort between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to register their child. Parents will need to present an official birth certificate (with certification seal from the county) and proof of residency. A checklist of documents is available in the left navigation on the District’s homepage. The registration fee for the extended day program is $150. The fee for the half day program is $125. Payment at registration may be made by check, cash, or credit card. Payment plans are available.
District to increase focus on residency as part of student re-registration process
The District will be assuming responsibility
for cross checking current family addresses with its new residency software
program. Previously a residency investigations company would complete this step
and then follow up with home visits and surveillance, if needed. Should the
District believe that a family residence is not within District boundaries, the
parent would have 10 days to provide appropriate paperwork. Should the timeline
pass, the District would refer the case to the investigation company. The District
plans to complete its parent database cross check prior to the start of the
2013-14 school year. By doing so, a family who may not be residents would be
required to enroll in their resident school district rather than starting the
year in District 161.
