Half-Day Student Attendance hours: 8:20am-11:30am

 

 *Student dismissal time for after school activities is 3:55 p.m. Please pick your child up in front of the school at 3:55 p.m. and follow the traffic pattern. Thank you!



  • 5th grade homerooms are located on the second floor
  • 6th grade homerooms are located on the first floor
  • Students receive Physical Education five times per week 
  • Students receive Music and/or Art two times per week for a semester or one time a week all year; students will also attend tech and library weekly
  • Student lunch/intramural time totals 40 minutes per day….20 minutes to eat in the multipurpose room and 20 minutes of structured activity in the gym 
  • (5th grade: 10:54-11:39) 
  • (6th grade: 11:42-12:22)
  • Buses arrive at the back of the building
  • Car riders enter/exit the front doors of the building. Students should arrive between 8:10-8:20 (tardy bell)

This calendar provides for 174 student attendance days, 4 Teachers' Institute Days, 2 Parent Conference Days, and 5 emergency days.
At the end of school in June, the calendar will be reduced 1 day for each emergency day not used up to a total of 5 days.
 

Immunization Requirement

Whooping cough, also known as pertussis, continues to occur in Illinois. In an effort to protect children from complications, and to help stop its spread, all students in grades 6 through 12 will be required to present proof of receiving a dose of Tdap (whooping cough booster).

If your student will be entering one of the grades affected (6-12), and hasn't received a Tdap booster dose yet, please schedule an appointment with your provider. This can be given at the time of their required 6th grade physical. This will be due the first day of school.

Vaccines may also be available at Will County Immunization Clinic (815-740-8143). If your student has already received the booster dose, please give us a copy of the immunization record.

It is now also required to receive 2 doses of the varicella (chicken pox) immunization.

These will be due on the first day of school.

Box Tops for Physical Education
The Physical Education teachers at Hilda Walker Intermediate School will once again be collecting Box Tops for Education during the 2015-2016 school year. As you know the funds raised through out the year assist the Physical Education Department in supplementing equipment cost. Please send any Box Tops for Education that you may have with your child to give to their Physical Education teacher. Thank you for your continued support.
