Student Registration

Registration for all students attending Summit Hill School District 161 in Frankfort , Mokena, and Tinley Park is currently being conducted at the District Office at 21133 S. 80 th Avenue , Frankfort and at each school. To enroll in kindergarten for the 2008-2009 school year, a child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2008. Physical examinations and immunizations are mandatory for all kindergartners, sixth-graders and students who are new to the Illinois Public School system. An original birth certificate and proof of residency are required for kindergartners and new students. All fees should be paid at the time of registration, but the district will work with anyone experiencing financial difficulties.

Please note that Illinois law now requires a dental exam to be completed for in kindergarten, second, and sixth grades. Proof of exam must be submitted to school on the enclosed Illinois Department of Public Health Proof of School Dental Examination Form (revised 10/05). This form should be submitted to the school office before May 15, 2009. The exam must have taken place within 18 months prior to that date.

In addition, a new law (SB 641) was passed in Illinois (effective January 1, 2008) which requires all children entering kindergarten or enrolling for the first time in Illinois schools to have a comprehensive eye examination within one year prior to starting school.

Fees for late registration are: Full Day K-8, $125 and half-day kindergarten, $100.
The $20 fee for late registration is waived for all students new to the district.
