School Closings
October 18, 2006
Dear Parents:
You should have recently received an EmergencyClosingsCenter bulletin to utilize
in the event of an emergency school closing due to inclement weather or school
building emergency. When such an event occurs, we post this information online at www.EmergencyClosings.com, where you can access the information easily. This online website also immediately electronically sends this information to local radio stations (WGN 720 and WBBM 780) and to local television stations (Channels 2, 5, 7, 9 (WGN), 32 (FOX), and to CLTV) for reporting to the public.
As our school community has quickly grown, municipal services have improved and have been able to more rapidly respond to snow and ice emergencies. Therefore, we have responded by adding a new “One Hour Delay” option in the event that school could begin safely after the roads were cleared and made serviceable. In the event that we utilize this option, school will begin exactly one hour later at all schools and bus pick-ups would also be scheduled for exactly one hour later. Of course, during inclement weather, it is likely that bus travel could be somewhat delayed, so we ask you in advance to be patient with short and expected delays.
If you have any questions regarding our procedures during inclement weather, please do not hesitate to call your child’s school for further information. I know we are all hoping for a relatively mild winter.
Sincerely,
Keith Pain, Superintendent |
