2007-2008 School Improvement Plan















Math-96% of our third students and 90% of or fourth grade students

met or exceeded state standards. Students will utilize math

centers, number lines, touch math, role playing, use calculators,

teacher charts, Differentiated lessons, on-line math activities,

math groups, timed tests, manipulative, and Problem of the Day.

The students will implement mental math, drawing pictures for word

problems, practice extended response, utilize and make chart

strategies. Student's progress will be monitored through the use

of Northwestern Evaluation Assessment RIT scores. Student's will

be assessed at least two times per year.


Reading-86% of our third grade students and 87% of our fourth

grade students met or exceeded state learning standards. Students

will utilize story re-telling, graphic organizers, sequencing

activities, decoding activities, use of non- fiction materials,

buddy reading, echo reading, choral reading, listening to models

of fluent readers. In addition they will use technology, the

Scholastic News, STAR and reports on non-fiction topics will be

utilized on an on-going basis. Student’s progress will be

monitored through the use of Northwestern Evaluation Assessment

RIT scores and Dynamic Interventions of Basic Early Literacy

Skills. Wilson Reading and Fundations Reading Program will be

utilized for students that qualify.


Science-91% of our fourth students met or exceeded state learning

standards.

We will utilize small groups, graphic organizers, field trips,

word banks, word walls, vocabulary activities, scientific videos,

scientific method and field trips. We will continue to use

Differentiation strategies. Parents will be encouraged to;

volunteer at centers, check homework, review chapters and

activities, attend museums, and visit teacher recommended

websites.
