District Goals
Administration District Goals 2006-2007 Implementation Set
Each year, district administrators and teachers study the Summit Hill School Board’s District Goals and determine what has been accomplished over the past year. Next, they articulate what needs to be accomplished over the upcoming year so that our students continue to learn and to perform at an optimum level. The goals for the upcoming year will be:
Board Goal #1: To develop a plan and implement a plan to accommodate the needs of our growing student population
- Continue district construction project
- Develop student and staff Transition Plan for new junior high
- Continue implementation of differentiated instruction
- Increase student program and activity offerings
- Develop programs, strategies, and procedures to increase efficiency in order to maintain focus on student achievement
Board Goal #2: To develop engaging curriculum, instruction, and assessment that encompasses research-based practices and guides District 161 programs
- Implement extensive staff development program
- Implement new Language Arts Program
- Develop district aligned writing program based on the Six Traits model
- Study gifted PA 094-00410 legislation and improve delivery of and quality of instruction to Honors students
- Implement new Middle School Foreign Language program and study options for an elementary program
- Develop an Assessment Team for a comprehensive study of all district assessments
- Continue to align curriculum in all areas, including PE, Music, Art, and Technology
- Implement pilot program study in science in preparation for later adoption
Board Goal #3: To develop and to provide opportunities for all students
to excel
- Increase classroom use of differentiated instruction
- Increase staff collaboration with respect to student achievement
- Improve educational and support services of district students
Board Goal #4: To maintain a fiscally responsible and balanced budget
- Continue to manage all finances in a fiscally responsible way
- Continue to manage district construction process responsibly
- Analyze all purchases with respect to benefit to student achievement
- Implement District Foundation
Board Goal #5: To enhance and to improve communication with all stakeholders
- Increase and improve electronic communication
- Increase staff and district communication
- Increase parental participation, communication, and involvement in all schools
- Celebrate our many successes
